Health agency indicates it is safe to return to the classroom in the fall.
In new guidance released on Friday, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention said that children ought to return to classrooms in the Fall of 2021. According to the CDC, “Students benefit from in-person learning, and safely returning to in-person instruction in fall 2021 is a priority.” This is in line with the goal of President Biden’s administration of returning students to the classroom as soon as is possible.
The guideline went on to lay out ground rules for the return to classrooms. The statement said, “CDC recommends schools maintain at least 3 feet of physical distance between students within classrooms, combined with indoor mask-wearing by people who are not fully vaccinated, to reduce transmission risk. When it is not possible to maintain a physical distance of at least 3 feet, such as when schools cannot fully re-open while maintaining these distances, it is especially important to layer multiple other prevention strategies, such as indoor masking.”
